How to Cut Bamboo for a Vase

Add a bit of character having an arrangement of bamboo cuttings at a vase to the décor of your home. The lines of the stalks of the bamboo supply any area with a fresh, slick accessory. You can create your structure to suit your tastes, by taking cuttings from oak plants. Bamboo can survive which makes it an excellent selection for the homeowner who may not have time to keep up a houseplant that is finicky and requires very little care.

Prepare a vase to obtain the bamboo cutting. Fill out the bottom third of the vase with clean stones to act as a support.

Pour water to the vase. Until the water level is one to two inches above the surface of the rocks fill out the vase. Put aside.

Pick a healthy bamboo stalk in which to take your own cutting edge. Look carefully at the stem carefully; it needs to be free of harm, illness or blemish. Choose a stem which is more than 3 decades old.

Describe the rings referred to as expansion habitats, on the bamboo stem. Measure length of bamboo. Count the nodes to ensure there are a total of four to six.

Cut the stalk with a knife just above the node on the length of the stem. Make the cut. Cut through the stem as quickly as possible to ensure a smooth edge.

Remove from the bottom half to two-thirds of the stem with the knife. Put the bamboo cutting in your vase. Push down the cutting to the stones until it’s end is at the base of the vase.

Maintain the bamboo cutting a bright room from direct sunlight. Change the water once weekly. Refill the vase with water as needed to keep the water level.
