Ocean-Inspired Home for Two in Newport Beach

The young couple who owns this flat at Newport Beach, Calif. believe they likely won’t remain in this house forever, but they wanted to make it a special home where they could nest for a little while. They hired interior designer Jessica Bennett to help them create a home for their lives together. She mixed new goods, ocean-inspired decor, and antiques by the couple’s family to create a place that feels stylish and livable.

The guest bedroom is a homage to the coastal town of Newport Beach. Bennett featured bright coral accents, nautical accessories, and other natural substances as tasteful and subtle references to the couple’s hometown.

The desk opposite the bed serves as a place for the few to do work and catch up on email when they’re not hosting guests. Bennett chose accessories in the exact same style and colour palette as the remainder of the room, focusing on a very simple but fun fashion. “I’d describe this home as’sophisticated comfort’,” says Bennett. “It is definitely my style. Plus, I got to really go crazy with accessorieswhich are my absolute preferred parts about this dwelling.”

The master bedroom was done in a soft shade of golden beige, which Bennett carried through different accessories. Crisp white bedding and dim side tables include a refreshing part of comparison, preventing the room from becoming single-toned. “It is fine enough to entertain in and need to show off, but nevertheless entirely livable,” Bennett says. “Every area is used. There aren’t any’hands off’ parts of this home.”

A dainty antique bench that Bennett found sits at the base of the bed — a perfect place to put shoes on or just sit and read. Bennett used a combination of family heirlooms, antiques, consignment pieces, and brand new goods to give this home an elegant, but lived-in appearance.

Bennett wanted the home to feel special for the newlyweds, so she included personal touches that truly make the house feel like home. Sweet little vignettes of old photos, scented candles, and treasures in the shore litter shelves and side tables across the area.

Many pieces used in the home’s layout are beautiful hand-me-down pieces. The Barbara Barry dining table and the mirror came in the spouse’s family, and the gorgeous apothecary chest belonged to her great-grandmother.

Since this is a apartment, Bennett and the couple decided to leave the kitchen .

Bennett was careful to choose pieces which could blend with the antiques. When it came to accessories, she adhered for unity — to a theme — a coastal feel with shells and candles.

Much like the rest of the house, Bennett adhered to simple classics at the living area. She did not wish to buy anything too extreme or trendy — not just because it wasn’t the couple’s design, but also because she wanted them to have the ability to hold onto this particular furniture and require it to their next residence.

Bennett loves to find unique items at consignment shops, so she did quite a lot of hunting at local stores in Orange County to locate just the ideal accessories for this couple. The coffee table in the living area was a lucky find. It is a classic bit that is built well, so the few will have the ability to use it.
