Cleaning Stained Grout at a Shower Stall

Over time, grout in a ceramic tile shower can become stained from soap scum, dirt accumulation, hair wax or mildew. Because grout is porous, stains can install, particularly if the grout isn’t sealed or when the sealant has worn away. The quicker you get to some stain, the better the chance of removing it. A strategic mix of family supplies and cleansers restores stained grout into its former whiteness.

Spray the shower using 1 cup white vinegar mixed with 1 cup water. As an alternative, spray all-purpose cleaner or a solution of 1 tablespoon dishwashing liquid and 1 cup water.

Permit the cleanser to sit down for five minutes and then wipe clean with paper towels or a moist sponge.

Mix 1/2 cup baking soda and water or two scoops oxygen bleach and warm water. Stir as you slowly add water, stopping when a thick paste forms. As an alternative, use a commercial abrasive cleaner.

Turn the shower temporarily to wet the walls.

Scrub the paste into the grout using a wash brush or toothbrush and allow it to sit for 30 minutes.

Turn on the shower to rinse the cleanser from the walls.
