Palatable Palettes: 8 Cool Blue Bedrooms

Lots of folks who confidently select colors for other rooms in their house frequently struggle when it comes to picking a palette to get their bedroom. After all, this room serves as a personal refuge. It is where we sleep, laze around, apparel and even read or watch TV. We wish to personalize it and make it a reflection of who we are.

But it’s also important that people make it a soothing and restful area to get a fantastic night’s sleep. Soothing does not necessarily need to mean boring beige or white for every surface, however. A fantastic go-to color for bedrooms is blue. Purported for a stress-reducing colour, blue can stand by itself or be utilized in concert with a number of other colors — brights and neutrals alike. 1 survey found that individuals with blue bedrooms tend to sleep better.

Here, an range of bedrooms on that feature hot injections of cool blue, together with examples of colors and palettes inspired by every image.

Blue With Green

This bedroom, with its liberal dose of aqua blue and spring green, is this a joyful area. I would love to curl up in that green chair with a fantastic novel — even the dreariest day could not bring me down. Another bonus to utilizing such vibrant colors is room needs no additional accessories or artwork. It is very clean and easy, but in no manner dull or dead.

Example palette: These perky blues and the leafy-green colour work well together in tiny doses, like on cloths, accessories or painted furniture. The milder cucumber green is a fantastic choice for the walls. Clockwise from top left (all from Sherwin-Williams): Mariner SW 6766, Cucumber SW 6722, Oceanside SW 6496 and Picnic SW 6731.

Blue With Orange

Turquoise is a popular colour right now, and here it is paired with another colour of this moment — extreme orange. These two colors are opposite each other on the colour wheel, which makes them a stunning and attention-getting combo. But because the walls, ceiling and floor are white, the effect is cool rather of cacophonous.

Writer palette: Punches of glowing blue and orange used sparingly, perhaps through a thick perpendicular stripe painted on the walls or readily changed-out bedding, look fantastic from a white backdrop. Clockwise from top left: Light My Fire AC211-5 and Cool Turquoise KM3238-2, both from Kelly Moore, and Castaway DE 5738 and Tangerine Dream DE 5160, both from Dunn Edwards.

Blue With Brown

Pale blue and chocolate brown were a ubiquitous colour combination for interior decoration a couple of decades ago, and I would assert that turquoise blue is your upgraded tweak to the popular duo. This room has a lovely retro-yet-modern vibe to it.

Blue With Gray

Blue also works well with grey, and to me this can be one of the most soothing palettes you can get. This is very good for a refuge bedroom in a blistering-hot climate.

Example palette: Use the blue colors sparingly to get an elegant and serene bedroom. Clockwise from top left (all from Valspar): Exotic Sea 5004-10B, Grey Mist WV35006, Peek-a-Boo Blue 400710 and Almost Charcoal 40082B.

Royal Blue

Darker shades of blue can be complicated to work with as they, like all dark colors, tend to suck all of the light from an area and make it sense cavelike. This room, but with its wall of windows and its white walls, can adapt the profound, intense blue cabinetry. The end result is a brilliantly contemporary sleeping area.

Jennifer Ott Design

Writer Colour: This shade of blue is extreme, but adding in a cool grey takes off a little the edge. Insert a dash of yellow to get much more play. Clockwise from top left (all from Mythic Paint): Silent Cameroon 136-3, Sunny Spot 083-5 and From the Sea 028-6.

Soothing Blue-Green

If a bit of grey is inserted to a color, you get what is called a tone. Applying tones of your favorite hue is a great way to achieve a brilliant room that stays calm and soothing — ideal for a bedroom. I was so drawn into this pretty room with its watery blue-greens and warm grays, I hardly noticed the fabulous view from the window!

Example palette: Another soothing and serene palette, this time with gentle blue-green tones and warm grays. Clockwise from top left (all from Glidden): Tropical Lagoon GLB20 D8, Silver Birch GLDN35 D8, Wood Smoke GLN40 D8 and Deepest Aqua GLB24 D8.

From the Navy

Navy is a versatile blue color since it functions as a neutral. Similar to the way it is possible to pair a top of any colour with dark denim jeans, paint a complete or semi gloss wall navy blue and you’re able to work in almost any other colour. But for a classy, tranquil bedroom, like the one pictured here, pair navy with milder shades of blue.

Jennifer Ott Design

Example Colour: if you would like to make a statement with colour in your bedroom but don’t need anything overly loud, consider a palette of deep navy blue with lighter colors of gray-blue. The outcome will be cool and calm. Clockwise from top left (all from Benjamin Moore): Mineral Alloy 1622, Silver Mist 1619 and Hudson Bay 1680.

Sky Blue

Finally, you can never fail using a fetching colour of sky blue. This is the perfect colour to set off rich wood floors. Grassy-green accents keep the look fresh and sharp.

Jennifer Ott Design

Writer palette: Still another fantastic option for a bedroom in a warmer climate, that this palette has a very natural, natural feel with the combination of sky blue and green. Both colors look fantastic from a caramel-colored wood or bamboo floor. Clockwise from top left (both from Olympic): Serenity B522 and Grassy Meadow B675, together with strand woven bamboo flooring.
